This is just a quick post about things that I heard yesterday. For the last couple mornings we have been doing fall school pictures at a preschool. Over the two mornings we photographed children from the ages of two to four and the things we saw and heard were priceless. One fun thing was reading names of the children and putting them with families that we know and have known for years, it also can make you feel old.
With the two year olds the most common thing we heard was "I want my mommy" and sometimes just a blank stare. We of course had a few tears from the two year olds, but they always came around and did great. One little boy had a last name I recognized and I had to ask him who his grandfather was and he quickly informed me it was "Papa Joe!" with a huge smile, and I was right about who he was. One little girl came in and informed us "I'm a big girl, I'm four". A girl with beautifully braided hair told us "my mama said not to touch my hair till after my pictures". And some of the best were the last class of four year olds we photographed. When they went out in the hall we heard "can I go again, that was so fun!", "that was cool?" and "that was awesome!". Those are always nice things to hear from four year olds after they had their pictures taken.
