This past weekend I attended the Professional Photographers of America convention in Nashville with some of my photographer friends, and over 10,000 other photographers. We arrived Sunday morning and were checking in at about the same time that the trade show was opening. It looked like a crowd waiting to get into a concert and at 11:30 the doors opened to what was like a stampede of people ready to find the newest cameras, backgrounds and props. The convention was huge and the convention center was enormous to say the least. If you have ever been to Opryland you know what I am talking about. We spent two days at the convention visiting friends, learning, sharing and shopping the trade show. This year it was surprising to see who was exhibiting and sponsoring programs for the convention. It was surprising that Nikon was nowhere to be seen this year, but Canon and Panasonic made up for it – and then some. All in all it was a great convention, but I am glad to be home with all of my new equipment and software!
In the photo below is a group of photographers that I have known for years, in fact, my first job in a studio was with one of them. The four of us have over 100 years of combined professional photography experience. Two Professional Photographers of America – Certified Professional Photographers (CPP). Three Professional Photographers of America – Photographic Craftsman Degrees. And we all own studios in various parts of Georgia. If you have seen us out on assignments at gyms, schools or leagues working together you have seen some of the most qualified photographers in the state working together. That is one of the great things about associations like this, and professional friendships. Whenever one of us needs help with a job we always have each others’ backs. So anytime you have a job, no matter how big or how small, we are here to take care of all of your photographic needs.
