Two weeks ago Mike and I spent several days on Jekyll Island at the GPPA convention. GPPA is the Georgia Professional Photographer’s Association which is a trade organization that promotes integrity in and the advancement of professional photography as a respected and honored profession. Its members are committed to artistic excellence, as well as professional business practices. Now, prepare your self because I am about to have a large brag moment on my cute husband and photographer. This year Mike earned 6 prestigious awards in the print competition. His image Regal Coronet was selected as the 1st Place, in the Teen Portrait category along with the prestigious CPP Competition Award, his image Remington received a distinguished award in the Pets and Animals Portrait category, his image Hometown Defender also received a distinguished award in the Mens Portrait category, his images Royal Affection and Perfect Pear both received distinguished awards in the Fine Art category, by a panel of eminent jurors from across the United States. The competition, which had over 200 entries from the state of Georgia and beyond, was judged against a strict standard of excellence comprised of 12 specific elements.
Mike is working towards his Master of Photography which is a professional degree Awarded for superior photographic skills—demonstrated through the Photographic Open category of PPA International Photographic Competition, advanced education and service to the industry. This degree will be partially earned through his entry of prints in the national competition. We are both looking forward to what the next level of judging brings and who his print subjects may be!
