Over the years you make a lot of friends. You make work friends, professional friends, church friends, neighborhood friends, school friends… The list sure can go on and on. Over 10 years ago I went to Las Vegas to a week long photography seminar and met two other photographers from different parts of Georgia that I had never met before. Since that meeting we, and our families, have become great friends. When you have friends in the same line of work you seem to share a lot of the same interests, ideas and problems. We get together to have fun, share ideas and go to conventions together. A few years ago we started doing a fall trip to photograph waterfalls or other things that aren't in our day to day photography assignments. This weekend will be our third fall trip and our second one to the Gatlinburg area.

The great thing about friends like these is that I always know when I am in a jam they have my back. For the last two years they have driven all the way to our area from the other side of the state to help me photograph a large gymnastics center. I am looking forward to this weekend's trip to get together and share ideas and hopefully come home with some great images. But if none of that happens I will still come home after a great weekend with some great friends.
