Once again convention season is here and we are about to be off to Atlanta for Imaging USA. Imaging USA is put on by the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) every year and this year it will be in Atlanta. Which is great because we get to commute every day! Last year the convention was held in Nashville and we got to brave the cold and snow, so we are very happy it is close to home this year. PPA is the longest running convention in the industry starting way back in 1880. The convention will host around 10,000 photographers from around the world for three days. The first programs will begin early Sunday morning and the big trade show will open at around noon. The trade show is where you can see all of the latest and greatest equipment, props and backgrounds. We can’t wait to see what all we will learn at the programs, and find new at the trade show!
Around one o’clock Sunday say a little prayer for Jessica as she takes her Certified Professional Photographer (CPP) exam! After passing the written exam she will have to submit images for the second phase of the certification process. Then if she passes everything, and I am sure she will, she will become one of less than 3% of photographers to achieve this status. She will join my good friend Charlie and me in holding this honor. How many studios do you know that have multiple CPP’s? Between that and having three Craftsman degree holders, Keith, Charlie and me, I think we have one of the most qualified staff of photographers anywhere. We will post more about Jessica and her progress soon.
This year the PPA International Print Competition will have its exhibit on display during Imaging USA. I will have two images that were chosen for this prestigious display and I can’t wait to see them. Hopefully next year there will be more!
We will have more to share about the convention sometime next week, watch our Snapchat (bentleyphoto1) and Instagram (bentleyphotography) in the meantime for updates. Wish us luck on the commute!
