This weekend I heard someone say that they used to say that and would always avoid cameras, snapshots and everything. Then when an uncle died and she went to the funeral she saw all of the photographs of him and his life she changed her mind about having photographs taken of herself. She then understood the importance of photographs for her children and grandchildren to have when she is gone.
This made me think about a child we were photographing several years ago who was brought in by his grandmother, the grandfather came along too because the little boy loved him so much she couldn't pry him away from him. When they got to the studio the boy cried and wouldn't do anything because he wanted to be with his grandfather so bad. He was so happy with the grandfather we suggested doing some some shots with him. The grandfather refused to be in any shots. What a great opportunity to get some great portraits that was missed and will never happen again.
